Senior Hardware Engineer Wireless Communication Products

Location : Alpharetta, GA (4 days / week)

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the design and implementation of electronic hardware for wireless communication devices, focusing on IoT and metering applications.
  • Research and evaluate new hardware components and technologies to enhance our product offerings.
  • Design and execute experiments to validate electronics design, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Provide technical support to product management, manufacturing, and third-party collaborators.
  • Oversee the preparation of PCB layouts and detailed PCBA drawings and schematics.
  • Manage component selection and documentation, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead innovative technology development and validation efforts.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering their growth and preparing them for independent design work.

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Extensive experience in RF, analog, and digital electronic hardware design.
  • In-depth knowledge of communication technologies such as RF Mesh (Wi-SUN), Cellular (LTE M, NB-IoT), Wi-Fi, ZigBee, and Bluetooth / BLE.
  • Proficiency in standard communication stacks, including the OSI model, TCP / IP, and UDP.
  • Expertise in computer-aided simulation tools (e.g., PSPICE, LTSPICE, MATLAB, CST, HFSS).
  • Strong familiarity with common lab test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators).
  • Skilled in computer programming and scripting languages, including Python, C, C++, and Bash.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Experience in generating technical documentation and working with product management to establish product requirements.
  • Proficiency with development processes, tools, and frameworks relevant to hardware design and validation.
  • Ability to understand and analyze data to solve problems and support design decisions.
  • Experience working on complex R&D projects with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills and Experience :

  • Antenna design experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices for designing electronics for environments exposed to high voltage surges and high-frequency noise.
  • Experience in precision voltage, current, power, or energy measurement.
  • Background in magnetics design, power supply design (SMPS, linear, offline, DC-DC), or electricity metering.
  • Proficiency in embedded systems programming or Python.
  • Mixed signal design and multilayer board layout experience, preferably with Altium.
  • Familiarity with RF, high-speed communications, or EMC compliance.
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification.
  • Experience in designing for high-volume manufacturing.

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • 6 - 10 years of hardware design or development experience in the electronics field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
