JOB SUMMARY
The Curriculum PD NES Vetter / PD 1 is pivotal in propelling Houston ISD's educational objectives forward, in alignment with Destination 2035 and Quality Instruction expectations.
The primary focus is developing Houston ISD NES (New Education System) curriculum, with a specific emphasis on writing, revising, and refining, to ensure alignment.
This role also serves as a liaison between multiple stakeholders to effectively create and deliver standards-based, high-quality professional development sessions aligned to the NES Curriculum.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- NES Curriculum Development : Design and create curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD's educational objectives.
- TEKS Alignment and Rigor : Write and revise curriculum to ensure compliance with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards while maintaining a high level of academic rigor and depth of learning.
- Curriculum Vetting : Regularly vett, review and revise existing curriculum to align to state standards and district expectations.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
- Curriculum Evaluation : Evaluate curriculum through a sensitivity lens to ensure grade-level appropriateness and cultural relevance.
- Facilitation of Brain Trusts : Lead collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies.
- TEKS-Driven Professional Development : Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on internalizing state standards and alignment to NES model for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s).
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree

At least 3 years working in the district / central office of a large urban school district
