A day in the life
As the Senior Manager of Procurement Packaging , you will be responsible for leading a team of (1-4) direct reports. You will effectively lead end-to-end Strategic Sourcing strategies to ensure company-wide commitments for all direct packaging materials, including, but not limited to corrugate, folding cartons, tins, box board, films, foils, etc.
It is essential that in this role, you ensure the most effective total cost solutions for Russell Stover Chocolates. As the Sr Manager of Procurement, you will lead in forecasting and contracting the continuous supply and timely procurement of products and services to ensure uninterrupted operations for both in-sourced and outsourced facilities.
This position reports to the Vice President of Procurement.
What You Will Be Doing
Management / Technical
- Drive direct and indirect cost savings through the deployment of procurement best practices.
- Deploy procurement best practices across spend areas.
- Develop recommendations regarding procurement strategies to support the Company’s overall goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement standards and systems for streamlining procurement processes for all procurement activities.
- Lead institutionalization of the MRP processes and system in SAP, and Coupa.
- Ensure data integrity and completeness in all purchasing-related applications.
- Cross-functionally manage inventory levels and product obsolescence through best practices (VMI, etc.) and enhanced processes.
- Work in conjunction with marketing, sales, engineering, operations, creative and R&D, and suppliers in the development and costing of finished goods.
- Work in close collaboration with Planning, QA, and R&D in the development, costing, and compliance auditing of raw material or packaging products.
- Implement best practices programs such as supplier involvement in NPD, VMI, Index-based contracts, etc.
- Ensure all suppliers adhere to Russell Stover Chocolates’ defined product standards and specifications to support consistency, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers on behalf of Russell Stover covering yearly or multiple years of supply, with pricing parameters based on volume and component (matrix) pricing.
Planning
- Ensure the integrity of all MRP-related inputs, outputs, and processes.
- Establish yearly material needs as part of the budgeting process.
- Monthly and quarterly reassess material needs based on usage, sales forecast, and production plans.
Leadership
- Develop a continuous learning organization that is positioned to support the current and future growth of the company.
- Provide coaching and mentoring of individuals in their technical development, change management, negotiations, communication, and cross-functional management.
- Develop clear and relevant individual and team objectives that support the overall corporate strategy.
- Lead the procurement participation in the cross-functional product development process. Add value by bringing innovative ideas to the business.
Do you have what it takes?
Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- 10+ years’ experience as a Purchasing / Procurement / Sourcing professional, with emphasis in raw materials packaging (flexible films, corrugated and folding cartons, cans, foil, and other secondary packaging) and in 3rd party manufactured finished goods
- Previous management experience that includes leading successful teams
- Strong ERP systems knowledge required (preferably SAP). High degree of knowledge in Material Requirements Planning : systems design and usage
- Strong business acumen
- Proven Project Management skills : Must be highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to handle multiple projects
- Ability to analyze, develop, and implement key cost savings initiatives throughout all commodity lines, co-manufactured products, fixed assets, and service providers
