Job Summary :
Provides secretarial and clerical services. Assists with non-clinical administrative functions within the department such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, and maintaining files.
Prepares cases for tumor boards and pathology consultation. Orders and tracks slides and blocks for internal and external consultations;
gathers and coordinates information for reports; and assists in compiling reports as requested. Performs office functions such as purchasing supplies and providing administrative support.
Serves as a resource for other departments and outside contacts, and performs other job-related duties as requested. Transcribes reports with a high level of proficiency, maintains records of work, and distributes reports as required.
Answers telephone and provides information concerning status of work. Performs other work-related duties, such as orienting and assisting new staff
Specifications :
High School graduate or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred. At least three years, preferably four years working experience;
familiarity with hospital or health care procedures. Excellent secretarial skill required, transcription experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge of computers and word processing application required. Strong knowledge of medical terminology required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
