Great Western Trailer (GWT) is immediately hiring a Welder / Fabricator at our Oklahoma City, OK location. As a Welder / Fabricator, you will be responsible for welding and fabricating equipment for new or used vehicles in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and safety policies.

Welders / Fabricators can expect any of the following responsibilities :
Operate Equipment :
- Welding and cutting equipment such as, Torch, Welder, Grinder, manual lathes, and Drill presses along with various other machine tools.
- Perform prototype work to fabricate custom components and perform repair welds on components.
- Modify new and used equipment as directed.
- Dump bodies, Flatbed, Service Bodies, Liftgates, Cranes, Van Interior packages, Ladder Racks, Snowplow and Spreaders
- Fabricate necessary brackets, or weld provided hardware
Quality check and reporting :
- Inspect and test welds using measuring instruments
- Prepares service reports that accurately document activities.
- Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
- Follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
- Examine workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Communicates needs or concerns in a timely manner in addition to assisting others as needed.
Demonstrate safety at all times :
- Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
- Follows company safety policies and procedures and complies with safety standards.
- Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
- Minimum one year installation / fabrication experience
- Valid driver’s license and reliable form of transportation.
- Owns a personal set of hand tools.
- Broad knowledge equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding; make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
- Ability to work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
- High school diploma or GED.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- ASE or other industry-recognized certifications helpful; welding certification.
- Bilingual Spanish a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, with toxic or caustic chemicals; fumes or airborne particles, extremes in temperature and environmental conditions.
Usually moderate to loud noise levels. Potential risk of electrical shock. May work in a shop or yard.
