Great Western Trailer (GWT) is immediately hiring a Welder / Fabricator at our Oklahoma City, OK location. As a Welder / Fabricator, you will be responsible for welding and fabricating equipment for new or used vehicles in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and safety policies.

Welders / Fabricators can expect any of the following responsibilities :

Operate Equipment :

• Welding and cutting equipment such as, Torch, Welder, Grinder, manual lathes, and Drill presses along with various other machine tools.
• Perform prototype work to fabricate custom components and perform repair welds on components.
• Modify new and used equipment as directed.
• Dump bodies, Flatbed, Service Bodies, Liftgates, Cranes, Van Interior packages, Ladder Racks, Snowplow and Spreaders
• Fabricate necessary brackets, or weld provided hardware

Quality check and reporting :

• Inspect and test welds using measuring instruments
• Prepares service reports that accurately document activities.
• Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
• Follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
• Examine workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Communicates needs or concerns in a timely manner in addition to assisting others as needed.

Demonstrate safety at all times :

• Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Follows company safety policies and procedures and complies with safety standards.
• Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
• Minimum one year installation / fabrication experience
• Valid driver’s license and reliable form of transportation.
• Owns a personal set of hand tools.
• Broad knowledge equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding; make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
• Ability to work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
• High school diploma or GED.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• ASE or other industry-recognized certifications helpful; welding certification.
• Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Must operate equipment such as phone, computer, power tools fork truck, hand tools, and welding equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, with toxic or caustic chemicals; fumes or airborne particles, extremes in temperature and environmental conditions.

Usually moderate to loud noise levels. Potential risk of electrical shock. May work in a shop or yard.
