POSITION SUMMARY

As an AI Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical development and implementation of AI systems while managing a team of engineers and data scientists.

You will play a key role in shaping the AI strategy, ensuring that AI projects are aligned with business objectives, and fostering a collaborative environment where technical excellence and innovation thrive.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI systems, ensuring they meet high standards of performance, scalability, reliability, and ethical considerations.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to a diverse team of AI engineers, data scientists, machine learning specialists, and software developers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the seamless integration of AI solutions into existing systems and workflows, optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Manage end-to-end AI projects using agile methodologies, including defining project scope, setting realistic timelines, allocating resources efficiently, and monitoring progress through key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining a high standard of quality and adhering to best practices in AI development.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, technical architects, software engineers, UX designers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure AI initiatives align with business goals and user needs.
  • Play a key role in developing and executing Vasion’s AI strategy, identifying opportunities to leverage AI for maximum business impact and competitive advantage.
  • Stay at the forefront of AI advancements by continuously researching and evaluating emerging trends, tools, and methodologies in areas such as deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and reinforcement learning.
  • Take ownership of AI security, privacy, and legal compliance, working closely with legal and security teams to ensure adherence to regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new AI technologies, frameworks, and cloud platforms to enhance Vasion’s AI capabilities.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of AI professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct comprehensive performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify tailored opportunities for professional development within the team.
  • Establish and enforce best practices in AI development, including version control, code review processes, model evaluation metrics, and responsible AI principles.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, effectively communicating complex AI concepts, project progress, and potential risks / challenges to all levels of the organization.
  • Prepare and present compelling technical documentation, reports, and presentations to executive leadership, stakeholders, and customers, showcasing the value and impact of AI initiatives.
  • Gather and prioritize requirements from diverse stakeholders, translating them into actionable technical tasks and user stories for the development team.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure high-quality data pipelines and efficient data management practices that support AI model development and deployment.
  • Establish key metrics and KPIs for AI projects, regularly reporting on their progress and impact to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in the AI community through conference presentations, technical blog posts, and open-source contributions to enhance Vasion’s reputation as an AI leader.
  • Collaborate with HR and recruitment teams to attract and retain top AI talent, participating in hiring processes and defining role requirements for AI positions.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation and learning from failures, encouraging the team to push boundaries and explore innovative AI applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in AI / ML development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex AI projects from conception to production.
  • Expert-level knowledge of AI / ML technologies and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor diverse technical teams.
  • Understanding of DevOps and MLOps practices and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying AI solutions.
  • Knowledge of data engineering, big data technologies, and data governance.
  • Deep understanding of current AI trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with AI ethics, responsible AI principles, and relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Knowledge of AI applications across various industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, retail).
  • Experience in strategic planning and roadmap development for AI / ML initiatives.
  • Understanding of budgeting and resource allocation in technology projects.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI / CD pipelines.

Additional desirable qualifications :

  • Publications in peer-reviewed AI / ML journals or conferences.
  • Contributions to open-source AI projects.
  • Familiarity with UI / UX design principles for AI-powered applications.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security best practices.
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and / or computer vision projects.
  • Understanding of AI model interpretability and explainability techniques.
  • Relevant cloud certifications, project management certifications, and AI ethics certifications.
