looking for Medical Physicist.
At Baystate Medical Health Center, D’Amour Center for Cancer Care, we have a position open for a Medical Physicist.
You will join a very collegial group of physicists, dosimetrists, physicians, and therapists eager to help you succeed. We will train you in all aspects of radiation therapy that will help you to prepare for your boards.
We are a busy Center with all state-of-the-art LINACs and Simulation equipment. We provide IMRT / SGRT / SRS / SRT / SBRT / DIBH.
We have commissioned in-house 3D printer capability for both external beam and Brachytherapy planning. Ours is a comprehensive Oncology center with four beam-matched LINACs at a single center with no satellites.
Our five Radiation Oncology attendings provide sub-specialty services, with a daily load of about 100 patients. We have an active SRS / SRT / SBRT program as well as a vigorous HDR brachytherapy program with in-department anesthesia services.
We are located in Western Massachusetts, which is about 1.5 hours to Boston, 2 hours to NYC / New Haven. The area has a low cost of living.

Job description
The physicist supports all radiation therapy physics activities including clinical, quality assurance, safety, and equipment maintenance, by performing both routine and non-routine support tasks under the general guidance using the concepts and techniques of applying physics to medicine and practical training of a medical physicist.
The individual should be competent to practice medical imaging physics and maintain the professional skills through continuing education.
The individual shall be available when necessary for consultation with the radiation Oncologist and to provide advice and direction.
Job Responsibilities
1) Participation in routine and non-routine clinical service for external beams; Perform 3D and IMRT / VMAT / SRS / SBRT treatment planning, double check calculation, treatment plan review, treatment chart and R&V review and weekly chart review
2) Participation of routine and non-routine clinical service for brachytherapy. Participate HDR planning, treatment, and QA, and radiation safety.
3) Participate in equipment maintenance and calibration of radiation therapy equipment.
4) Additional responsibilities in support of the Chief Physicist as required.
Work Experience and Skills
Any experience is preferred but we would train any Board eligible medical physicist.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Master of Science in medical physics; Board Eligible in Therapeutic Medical Physics American Board of Radiology
