Our Finance Department at the Eastern Territorial Headquarters (THQ) in West Nyack, NY has an opening for a Budget and Financial Analyst.
The role of the Analyst is to obtain and prepare various reports, schedules, analyses, and reconciliations, primarily focused on the operating budget and activity as required to support THQ Leadership’s fiscal goals.
This position requires approximately 35 hours of work per week and may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities
Positive Pay Program JP Morgan Chase
Transmit (via Bank’s website) THQ check issue data as part of the bank reconciliation process.
Review / monitor JP Morgan Chase Positive Pay Exception Email Notification / daily bank reports (all
accounts : General Operating / Trust, Chesterfield, Isolved / Payroll accounts) to ensure correct check data
received at bank and for fraud prevention (decision processed to pay / return exception items). Follow up
fraud / forgery check processing cases with appropriate Bank, THQ Finance and Chesterfield personnel.
Employees Taxable Income Calculation for Personal Use of The Salvation Army Vehicles
Annually, update Excel worksheet with THQ employee auto mileage vehicle cost data. Calculate
taxable income for inclusion to the THQ payroll.
Internet Donation / Credit Card Processing Systems
Provide support and act as liaison for Elavon / Converge based internet donation systems and divisional
headquarters. Direct funds received from other USA Territories to Donor designated Eastern SA
locations / programs and Eastern Divisional restricted donations to designated locations outside of
Eastern Territory (Other USA Territories / Overseas Salvation Army World Services
Organization / SAWSO). Assist THQ departments with processing credit card transactions via online
Evalon / Converge Virtual Terminal Merchant system and the proper General Ledger recording of this activity,
based on reconciliation of Elavon Merchant account batch report detail and the JP Morgan Chase daily activity
report (IE : NY Staff Band, THQ Conference Center, Territorial OTHERS Program, Student Loans, Overseas Child
Sponsorship Program).
Territorial Actuarial Valuation of Officer Retirement and Post-Retirement Benefits
Maintain and update all data input required by Aon (Actuary), for the above valuation.
Review preliminary reports with Director of Corporate Finance and Aon to ensure the valuation is
conducted in accordance with Territorial / National directives.
Ensure the final valuation report is produced on a timely basis to meet the timeline of the Territorial
Consolidation.
Territorial Headquarters Operating Budgets
Prepare annual budget letter for the THQ departments detailing THQ Leadership’s directives / guidelines
required in preparing annual budgets.
Collect, review and analyze all THQ departmental operating budgets and variance analysis.
Prepare consolidated THQ operating budget summary for review and approval by TFC.
Upload department line-item budget by month to Serenic accounting system via Excel worksheet
template / Serenic budget planning module.
On a monthly basis, monitor department budget comparison reports for unfavorable budget variances
and other potential cost concerns to be communicated to Finance leadership and follow up with
department, as appropriate.
Assist / support personnel in and outside of Finance department with inquiries regarding proper
accounting of actual activity, historical data, potential cost / budget impact proposals and other budget
related matters.
Human Resources Employee Requisition / TFC Proposal Review
Review budget impact and notate as appropriate Employee requisitions / TFC Proposals of
new / temporary / part-time positions, personnel transfers, position replacements, salary increases over
current approved levels, etc. that are processed through the HR Lotus Notes based system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-5 years of related experience
