Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is hiring a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer to join our MEP practice.

  • Qualified candidates will have 6+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in MEP Building Systems profession.
  • Responsible for working independently to develop electrical design drawings for building systems, including creating a one-line diagram, load analysis, panel schedules, and researching product data sheets.
  • Selecting / specifying electrical equipment like switchboards, panels, transformers, and lighting controls.
  • Expected to answer questions about their design during the construction process to provide guidance to architects and contractors.
  • Expected to communicate professionally with clients and other engineers.
  • PE License is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • 6 - 10 years of professional experience; PE Required.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring projects involving overhead and underground engineering systems.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment; background and motor vehicle checks may be required based on position.

Performance Expectations

  • Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff.
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence.
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements.
  • Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required.
  • Complete other duties as required / assigned.
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target (75%-80% typical).
  • Attend bi-weekly (or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects / tasks.
  • Chart and provide task performance results.
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope.
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required.
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters.
  • Prepare interpractice agreements and / or outside requests as required.
  • Provide technical project and staff oversight.
  • Serve as task manager on select projects.
  • Compare field data to base plan.
  • Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs as needed.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for review and approval.
  • Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval.
  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job.
  • Review and approve shop drawings.
  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program.
