Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCi Technologies is hiring a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer to join our MEP practice.

  • Qualified candidates will have 6+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in MEP Building Systems profession
  • Responsible for working independently to develop electrical design drawings for building systems. This will include creating a one-line diagram, creating load analysis, creating panel schedules, researching product data sheets for various pieces of equipment to find the electrical information.

Selecting / specifying electrical equipment like switchboards / panels / transformer / Lighting Controls.

  • This person will also be expected to answer questions about their design during the construction process to provide guidance and information to architects and contractors.
  • This person will be expected to communicate professionally with clients, and other engineers.
  • PE License is required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Appropriate graduate level work. Master's degree preferred.
  • 6 - 10 years of professional experience. PE Required.
  • The target candidate will have experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring projects involving both overhead and underground engineering systems.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Performance Expectations

  • Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required
  • Complete other duties as required / assigned
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(75%-80% typical)
  • Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects / tasks
  • Chart and provide task performance results
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Prepare interpractice agreements and / or outside requests as required
  • Provide technical project and staff oversight
  • Serve as task manager on select projects
  • Compare field data to base plan
  • Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval
  • Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval
  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
  • Review and approve shop drawings
  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
