Position Summary : This position is part of a team that aims to provide guidance on career exploration and tools to uncover pathways to employment and career success.
Navigator will assist Library patrons identifying as job seekers / career changers with accessing KCPL Job Search Central tools, community resources and local labor market information.
Role includes helping patrons with gathering job history information, creating resumes, searching for jobs, preparing / practicing for interviews, assisting with LinkedIn profiles and utilizing appropriate Stream Center tools.
Navigator will serve as part of the Erlanger Library team, helping cover Public Services desks. Navigator is also expected to offer or schedule instructors to teach several job search skills classes and small business programs for people looking for jobs as entrepreneurs.
Principal Responsibilities :
- Assist with developing and updating content for Library programs that assist job seekers / career changers and facilitate workshops as required.
- Communicate with patrons, prospective patrons, and employers about KCPL job search resources and programs.
- Plan, coordinate instructors and schedule entry-level Google, Microsoft plus professional level job search classes both online and in-person, plus assist with programs catering to small businesses.
- Assist with growing the awareness of KCPL career resources and development of tools to track related statistics.
- Assist with growing and maintaining KCPL Workforce Development community partnerships.
- Help educate Public Services staff on availability of Career & Job Services tools and how to use them, especially Data Axle, Gale Courses, Learning Express and Jobscan.co.
- Help arrange, schedule and track Employer Hiring Events and Career Fairs in building.
- Will be required to complete Kentucky State Library Certification and training to become a Certified Workforce Development Professional.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work with Library staff, job seekers, employers and small businesses in the business community.
- Excellent customer service and community relations skills.
- Experience planning and implementing meetings or programs.
- Able to maintain high levels of confidentiality, credibility, and professionalism.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent MS Office Suite, Google, Zoom, MS Teams skills.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Knowledge of workforce development programs, services and techniques is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and means of transportation to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and carry 10ft; must be able to push and / or pull 100 lbs.
Salary : $16.85 per hour
