The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to design, implement, optimize, and support relation database management systems to support in-house created and off-the-shelf commercial applications to aid in case tracking and processing.

The Senior Database Administrator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :

• Design redundant, highly available database clusters for several in-house and off-the-shelf enterprise applications.
• Implement and maintain zero loss databases across multiple nodes in multiple clusters.
• Perform index tuning and optimization tasks using SolarWinds DPA.
• Develop and maintain entity relationship diagrams of data stores.
• Design disaster recovery plan, schedule and implement the plan on a regular basis.
• Create and document various data views for use in data visualization tools, such as Power BI.
• Maintain object relationship consistency across all related data stores, enforcing foreign key constraints on dependent tables.
• Implement role-based security access, leveraging SSO and MFA where required.

Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements :

Qualified candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to information technology service management, process management, operations; or

An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to information technology service management, process management, operations; or

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related information technology service management, process management, operations;

or the equivalent education and / or experience.

A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college is strongly preferred.

Must have excellent communication skills and experience in handling confidential information.

ETL tools Teradata, MS SQL Server, Data Transformation Services, Oracle SQL Developer, SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS), ADF, DataStage, Azure Synapse.

Reporting tools SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI

• Additional Databases : Azure SQL Database, SQL Server Analysis Service (SSAS), EDW, EDL DevOps, Azure Blob, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, AWS, S3, GCP, Azure Functions.
• Operating Systems : Windows Server 2 / 9 / 6, Unix Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows ,
• Version Control : CVS, SVN, GIT, GitHub, TFS.
• Project Environment : SDLC, Agile / Waterfall.
• Other Tools : ERWIN, Lucid Chart, Redgate, MS Dynamic , SQL Server Agent, Oracle OEM and ODA

For current New York City employees, a permanent computer-related civil service title is preferred but not required.
