Physical Requirements / Working Conditions : Must be in good physical condition in order to accomplish the tasks associated with this job.
Most work involves standing up and the position involves frequent twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
Incumbent is frequently required to lift boxes weighing up to sixty-five pounds and is required to push carts loaded with supplies with total weights up to approximately three hundred pounds.
Incumbent must be able to read instructions in small print on the back of containers in order to mix chemicals solutions properly.
Alertness is required while operating mechanical and powered equipment. The ability to write clearly is required to ensure accurate posting of records involving equipment and supplies.
Working Conditions. Is exposed to danger of infection in the handling of contaminated waste and injury or illness in the handling of hazardous chemicals.
Appropriate protective clothing and safeguards are provided. Incumbent is instructed to adhere and comply with instructions given by immediate supervisor.
For the most part work is performed in typical storeroom settings primarily inside well lighted, and ventilation is adequate.
Outside work may be performed in areas such as open loading docks during inclement weather. Incumbent is subject to cuts, scrape, bruises, and other injuries associated with equipment maintenance and stock handling.
Maintenance of equipment can be dirty, dusty, and greasy. Tour of duty may be adjusted according to the needs of Environmental Management Services.
