Overview Purpose Statement / Position Summary : The Manager of Sustainability is responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive sustainability program that aligns with overarching goals and engages staff at all levels.

This multifaceted role helps position CHLA as a leader in environmental sustainability to uphold national environmental standards and best practices.

The Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, promotion, and monitoring of environmental strategies and goals across CHLA.

This Manager will direct the organization in deploying environmental sustainability actions that lead to the reduction of ecological damage and promote long-term sustainability.

The sustainability manager acts by policies and procedures and exemplifies the mission, vision, and values of CHLA. Minimum Qualifications / Work Experience :

Minimum of 3 years of sustainability or business experience required. Familiarity with sustainability programs, develop and lead an internal executive sustainability steering committee at the corporate level that will oversee and monitor progress, develop, direct, and manage all facets of the sustainability program, and lead, develop, and promote sustainability engagement activities through tools, education, and training to increase awareness among staff members, patients, and the community.

Analyze and assess current operating procedures, materials, and methods, anticipate, and implement changes or modifications based on sustainability goals, and perform life cycle assessments and cost analyses of proposed modifications.

  • Has broad knowledge and appreciation of the key aspects of sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on life sciences and the associated business impacts; preferred.
  • Has experience in the application of sustainability standards and reporting protocols, including but not limited to U.N.

Sustainable Development Goals, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, and others; preferred. Education / Licensure / Certification :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Master’s degree or advanced degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, or related field, preferred.
  • U.S. Green Building Council LEED Green Associate certification, preferred. Pay Scale Information $94,224.00-$169,728.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization.

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description.
