This opportunity entails serving as the practice leader for the Oklahoma City, OK location within the Central States Office.

The practice leader reports to the Central States Office Leader and serves on the Office Leadership Team. The practice leader is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Oklahoma geographic location including market growth and business development;

client, civic and community relationships; government relations; assuring project and program delivery; and overseeing staff coordination so as to operate within the established goals and budgets for the Central States Office.

The practice leader is also responsible for leading the development and execution of Oklahoma state and regional client programs, pursuits and projects while building and maintaining effective and meaningful client relationships.

The practice leader will provide guidance, collaboration and input on the strategic direction, priorities and effectiveness of the HNTB Client Service Teams with a focus on Oklahoma state and regional pursuits and projects, including the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, and Oklahoma area municipal, aviation and transit client organizations.

The Practice Leader may serve as a director for large scale pursuits and projects at the mega ($5M+) or super mega ($25M+) sales level.

What You'll Do :

Directs and supervises the development and management of the operating budgets for the departments within the Group and coordination with the office's budget.

Responsible for the oversight of the group (multiple departments) activities, establish priorities and assign staff to projects.

Collaborate with other groups, offices and divisions on work-sharing needs and opportunities.

Drives the implementation of the firm's strategic plan and HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) process on project pursuits and markets with the Group and office, including development of strategic planning strategies.

Drives the implementation of the firm's contracting (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities including scope, work plan and fee reviews for all contracting activities impacting the group.

Drives the implementation of the firm's project delivery (SDA) process including Work Planning, Monthly Project Reviews and other project performance methods to ensure quality work, on time, on schedule, to the client's satisfaction.

Assists in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities

Maintains client contacts to ensure client satisfaction. Leads and assists in sales and marketing efforts for department's growth.

Assists in the development and execution of the office strategic plan. May participate of the Office Leadership Team (OLT)

Recruits, hires, develops and retains department staff within the group, including supporting Department Managers with the development of plans for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning.

Manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Master’s degree in Engineering, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Business or other closely relevant degree.

16 years relevant experience with 4 years supervisory experience

Professional Engineer (PE) certification

American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification

Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) certification

Project Management Professional (PMP)

Relevant experience in client service, business development, and / or project management of large scale (mega / super mega) pursuits and projects in Oklahoma and / or the surrounding region

Primary Focus Will Include :

Responsible for day-to-day Oklahoma geographic location oversight, coordination and practice building, located in Oklahoma City.

Responsible for assisting the Central States Office Leader with developing and executing the external engagement strategy in the Oklahoma state and region with clients, elected officials, civic and business organizations, and the community.

Collaborates to establish Oklahoma geographic location priorities and coordinates resource needs / assignments / work schedules with Central States Office discipline group directors and the geographic location practice leaders in Kansas City, St.

Louis, Overland Park and Des Moines.

Performs oversight or management of assigned client program, pursuit and project management activities (client audits / debriefs;

project scope, schedule, budget and quality management and delivery; client program and pursuit discovery and strategy) for HNTB Mega and Super Mega pursuits and projects for the Oklahoma area practice.

Engaged in the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of Oklahoma geographic location staff members in coordination with Central States Office Leader and discipline group directors.

Responsible for assisting the Central States Office Leader to ensure the firm’s standards of performance are being met in the Oklahoma geographic location including HNTB’s Sophisticated Planning Approach, Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach, Sophisticated Approach to People and Sophisticated Delivery Approach.
