- Bachelor's Degree.
- Certificate by the state of Texas to teach in the subject area assigned.

- Delivers rigorous instruction to prekindergarten students in order to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth.
- Provides standards-based, data-driven, differentiated instruction that engages students and that maximizes the growth and development of every child.
- Creates a safe and supportive learning environment to maximize student learning.
- Provides high quality early childhood instruction in prekindergarten classroom setting in accordance with TEA Prekindergarten Guidelines.
- Knowledgeable of District prekindergarten theme-based, experiential learning curriculum and instruction.
- Ensures a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment.
- Organizes a balance of teacher-direct and child-initiated activities. Ensures predictable routines and smooth transitions between activities;
works at eye level of children.
Assists children with self-care and daily living routines such as toileting, development of independent toileting, hand washing, basic hygiene, serving meals, basic cleaning and sanitizing during the school day, and preparing children for and supervising them during nap time in ways that encourage students’ active participation, learning and developing independence.
Certain children may require diaper-changing, special feeding, or other special accommodations.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS / ABILITIES
- Ability to supervise children, interact with and care for the physical needs of prekindergarten children, and monitor the learning environment.
- Maintain a hygienic learning environment;
- Dexterity to dress children, take care of children’s hygiene needs such as changing diapers, toileting assistance, and handwashing, and use instructional materials.
- Strength, conditioning, and agility to :
- Evacuate children promptly. Evacuation duties must be achieved without reliance upon another staff member to assist them with their own physical needs over those of children;
- Move, lift children and items from 30 to 50 pounds; the employee often lifts and / or moves up to 50 pounds;
- Frequents stoops, kneels, crouches, bends, reaches
- Must be able to walk safely on uneven surfaces such as sand and woodchips.
- Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
FUNCTION : MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS :
- Reinforces and demonstrates the belief that all students have the potential to achieve at high levels; supports all students in their pursuit of social-emotional learning and academic success /
- Plans for successful student learning of daily objectives that include basic knowledge and skills, and central concepts of the discipline to promote kindergarten readiness in literacy, math, social studies, and science.
- Utilizes multiple models of instruction including small group, large group, and centers, uses assessment data to drive instruction, and implements evidence-based teaching practices to engage students in the learning process, critical thinking, and problem solving.
- Utilizes Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and District Curriculum to design engaging lessons which are challenging, high quality, and appropriate for the level of instruction.
- Maintains current accurate records of daily attendance and textbooks issued.
- Able to effectively manage time and materials.
- Accepts related assignments as requested by principals.
- Instructs classes in the subject area(s) assigned.
- Is responsible for the use and care of available instructional materials.
- Maintains current records of student grades and progress.
- Accurately evaluates and assesses performance of students in subject / s taught.
