Senior Bioinformatics Scientist
Key Responsibilities :
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing analyses and developing robust computational pipelines and tools essential for our target discovery initiatives.
Your duties will include :
- Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of human geneticists, biologists, bioinformatics scientists, and software engineers to derive insights from extensive genetic datasets through data analysis.
- Working both independently and as part of a team to :
- Deploy scalable, robust data analysis pipelines, software tools, and web applications to support target discovery, including innovative methods for analyzing genetic and phenotypic data.
- Implement state-of-the-art analytical methods and algorithms, whether internally developed or sourced from scientific literature.
- Integrate, analyze, and visualize large, complex datasets to extract valuable information for target discovery efforts.
- Conduct focused genetic analyses to uncover insights into novel target biology and effectively communicate these findings to colleagues.
- Perform analyses to address critical quality control issues for platforms and applications.
Requirements :
- MS or PhD in bioinformatics or a related discipline (e.g., computer science).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python.
- Familiarity with Linux command-line tools and bash scripting.
- Experience with HPC / cloud computing environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Demonstrated experience in processing, analyzing, and visualizing genetic datasets to derive scientific insights.
- Strong understanding of applied statistical methods and the principles of statistical genetics.
- Experience with RNA-seq (or scRNA-seq), GWAS data, and other omics data types is a plus.
- Experience working with UK Biobank data or other large-scale biomedical databases is a plus.
- Full stack development experience is advantageous but not required.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.
- Demonstrated ability to write readable, testable, and SOLID code.
