This is a grant-funded position with an end date of 8 / 31 / 25. It is renewable based on funding availability and work performance, and funding is expected to continue.

Activities in this position include mental health triage and assessment, working with community partners to ensure smooth transition processes for Amplify patients and internal and external referrals, and partnership building.

The role will support the operations and clinical program managers, the Amplify data program administrator, and the assistant director of community integration strategy.

This role will contribute to shaping front-end processes for Amplify on the Austin Community College campus and support the growth of this community clinical arm of UT Health Austin into future public spaces.

Amplify provides opportunities for additional clinical training for those working towards licensing, including supervision for LPC and LCSW.

Purpose

The Amplify Mental Health Therapist will lead outreach and triage for the Amplify Center, an integrated mental health clinic focused on improving mental health services for adolescents and young adults.

The position will coordinate outreach activities engaging Amplify adolescent and young adult clients to ensure successful connections to services and participate in the growing outreach strategy of the Center for future expansion of the clinic.

Additionally, the Amplify Mental Health Therapist will work with community partners and support young adults in ensuring they are connected to adequate support within Amplify and to ensure adequate support for young people external to Amplify.

Responsibilities

Assist the Amplify management team in shaping an outreach strategy and workflows for Amplify intake and triage processes in developing materials, tabling, working directly with community partners in referral buildout, and supporting intake processes with the health access partner team.

Complete diagnostic assessments with young adults and assess for social and mental health needs. Assist clients and self-identified family members by (a) sharing information and perspectives on mental health conditions, (b) helping clients build coping strategies, psychological skills, and ways to improve their daily function and quality of life, (c) assisting clients in identifying and achieving life goals.

Participate in screening, tracking, and reporting young adult outcomes and social work interventions.

Carry a light client caseload to provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to Amplify clients.

Attend staffing and other meetings / appointments as assigned. Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education opportunities, academic and research opportunities to optimize client best practices, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Maintain monitoring and tracking processes of both client and clinic-level outcomes. Complete necessary reporting requirements and ensure achievement of performance measures for funders and stakeholders.

Maintain written documentation for all clinical services rendered, consistent with organizational standards, including the initial assessment, follow-up visits, and discharge summary, as well as track all community outreach development by documenting progress and workflow processes.

Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Hold a master’s degree in social work or other related counseling or human service degree. Be provisionally licensed with an LMSW or LPC-A.

Have at least two years of experience working with young adults from board backgrounds (people experiencing homelessness or violence, formerly incarcerated, people with disabilities, physical and mental health barriers).

Demonstrate the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with various other professionals, community partners, and stakeholders Maintain a positive, empathetic, compassionate, and professional attitude when engaging with clients, their family members, and community stakeholders.

Possess excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills; organizational, planning, follow-up / follow-through, and time management skills.

Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and can work in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of root causes of health disparities and social determinants of health and their impact on the experience of mental health and accessing supports.

Preferred Qualifications

Be provisionally or fully licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas or any related licensure credential.

Have at least two (2) years of clinical experience working with older adolescents and / or young adults. Have at least two (2) years working as an outreach coordinator in a health / mental healthcare capacity.

Experience in clinical modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy or motivational interviewing, or any other applicable evidence-based practice modality.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours.

Salary Range

$62,000+ depending on qualifications
