Genesis10 is seeking a Data Center Engineer for a twelve-month contract position in Nashville, TN. This position will work 5 days onsite and will be nightshift 12am ET-8am ET
As a Data Center Engineer you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Data Center Services (DCS) group.
The DCS team is responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all server hardware / devices.
The position requires a professional with proven experience and success in managing the full life cycle of data center infrastructure projects from planning customer server installations, cabling, and designing structured cable plant systems.
This individual will provide excellent customer service and report progress regularly. They will also assist the DCS team with troubleshooting server / network / storage systems.
The work environment is fast paced and deadline-oriented where adaptability is key to our success as a team, thus having depth knowledge of working large-scale data center environments is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Strong understanding of Client & Cisco standalone servers, enclosures, & blades.
- Experience with Data Center space planning, server cabinet layout, and cabling. Strong understanding of structured cable design (fiber / copper).
- Full understanding data center cabling standards including fiber optics.
- Facilities hands-on provisioning (installing racks, setting up power, installing Ethernet, fiber and console cabling, terminate copper, label, remote power and KVM).
Required Skills
- A+ certification or equivalent HW repair experience. Replacement of chassis power supplies, cache modules, HDD's, RAM, switch modules and replacement of failed devices within cabinets
- Familiarity with the tools that are needed to install or remove equipment from cabinets
- Microsoft Office Applications
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- BS in Computer Science or IT-related field - Career experience in related field of 5+ years can also satisfy education requirements
Preferred skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Previous cabling experience
- Ability to effectively give and take instruction by email
Compensation : $25-$27 per hour W2 based on experience
