Job Summary :
The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for assisting and preparation for anesthesia in the hospital setting.
Hours :
- 8 FTE - 32 Hours Per Week
- Monday through Friday shifts
- 2, 12-Hour Shifts & 1, 8-Hour Shift
- Starting hourly rate : $19.38+ per hour based on experience
Essential Job Functions :
Supports anesthesia care providers during invasive monitoring vascular access procedures
o Supplies and equipment are assembled as appropriate for procedures
o Additional supplies and equipment are procured during procedure as needed
o Supplies are restocked, as used, during the procedure and after the procedure
Supports anesthesia care providers in the operating room environment
o Equipment is cleaned and contaminated items are disposed of in accordance with the infection control policy and manufacturer's instructions for use
o Ability to differentiate between and anticipate the types of supplies and equipment needed for patient population, specific airway management is consistently demonstrated
o Ability to differentiate between and anticipate supplies needed for age, patient population specific general, regional and monitored anesthesia care is consistently demonstrated
o Ability to differentiate between and anticipate the types of monitoring equipment and supplies needed for patient population, specific care is consistently demonstrated
o Adequate par levels of supplies and medications are maintained
Supports operating room procedures
o Patient and personnel safety procedures are adhered to (infection control, fire safety, electric and chemical hazards identified etc.)
o System issues are brought to management's attention in a timely manner
o Interdisciplinary team participation is evident in all areas of practice
o Emergency situations are immediately and competently responded to (cardiac arrest, difficult airway, malignant hyperthermia etc.)
Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others per departmental policy
o Strengths and opportunities for professional development are identified and goals for self-improvement are set and documented
o A positive environment conducive to development of others is demonstrated on an ongoing basis including but not limited to perception, teaching, orienting, role modeling, and team participation
o Annual mandatory training activities are completed within established time frames
Demonstrates leadership in the delivery of technical patient care
o Active participation in accomplishing the goals of the OR is demonstrated
o Recognition and support of peers is provided on a routine basis
o Time management and organizational skills are demonstrated / role modeled on a routine basis
- Regular and prompt work-site attendance

Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability :
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
- BLS certification is required upon hire
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement.
- Previous experience in a hospital environment is required
- Two year degree from an accredited college or technical school is preferred
- Is aware of professional standards and performs in accordance with them
