Job Description and Duties

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

The Research Data Specialist II (Specialist) acts as an expert in labor market analysis and independently performs a variety of research and data analysis.

The Specialist leads activities on behalf of the division and department using EDD administrative data and external data sources (U.

S. Census Bureau and Dun & Bradstreet) to respond to complex research and policy questions through the advanced use of various statistical software (SAS, R, Stata, Python, and Microsoft Excel).

The Specialist also creates and maintains Labor Market Information (LMI) dashboards for the department and division websites using data visualization software (Tableau & Microsoft Power BI) to convert LMI data into graphical charts to identify trends and patterns.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute.

Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

The office is located at 9323 Tech Center Drive, Suite 1000, Sacramento, CA 95826 with free parking and close to light rail service.
