The Food Safety & Quality team at BrightFarms is hiring a Food Safety & Quality Manager at our Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania greenhouse to lead the implementation of our food safety programs at the farm.

Specifically, you will :

• Effectively and efficiently manage Production processes to ensure the quality of our product, consistency maintaining SQF requirements
• Collect routine EMP samples (water samples, swabs, product samples and media samples)
• Train and verify effectiveness of relevant food safety & quality programs to operators and leadership
• Oversee the sites pest control management system and conduct regular reviews of the system
• Lead site audits and inspections, both external (ex. SQF) and internal
• Support the farms in implementation of food safety regulations and policies
• Perform site GMP inspections and perform required drills & exercises
• Standardize best practices and creates forms necessary to collect KPIs
• Verify and review completion of food safety records
• Manage the farm’s food safety plan
• Have a willingness and desire to assist in unrelated and / or unassigned tasks to ensure the effective operation of the Greenhouse
• Perform risk assessments and advise leadership on appropriate recommendations
• Lead corrective action efforts in identifying RCA and effectively implementing CAPA’s
• Work cross functionally to safely implement new processes, programs and equipment
• Build and support a strong food safety culture
• Complete other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate :

• 4-year degree in a related discipline
• 5-8 years of experience in a production environment or related work experience
• Can create SOPs, forms, policies and food safety plans to meet relevant regulations such as FDA and GFSI
• Be detail oriented and data driven (experience with data bases is a plus!)
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Be a self-starter and a problem solver with strong relationship building and communication skills
• Ability to navigate a dynamic and quickly evolving environment
• Exhibit excellent critical thinking skills, leadership skills, lead by example set the highest possible standards for food safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and behavior

Working conditions / Environment / Travel / Schedule required

Have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking / standing for many hours, working in cold conditions (coolers) and warm environments (greenhouse)
