Responsibilities Position is on a 40-bed Med / Surg acute care unit with medically stable patients Unit serves patients with COPD, CHF, CAD, diabetes, dementia, kidney failure, sepsis, GI bleeds, wounds, and occasional surgical cases Stroke certified unit with medical and occasional surgical patient population Typical patient ratio is 1 : 5-6 12-hour night shifts (1930-0700), 36 hours per week Rotational 6-week scheduling cycle with 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks; night shift weekends are Fri / Sat Floating required to 2nd Surgical (surgical / oncology), ED boarders, and Progressive Care Unit for medical overflow at a 1 : 5 ratio EMR : Meditech Uses Baxter IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Voalte communication devices Responsibilities include medication management, post-op care, wound management, and participation in bedside shift report Support includes 6-8 RNs and 4-6 CNAs per shift with 1-2 unit supervisors 1 day of general orientation including Meditech training and 12-hour unit orientation with cross-training to sister unit during onboarding week Holiday coverage is required for 1-2 holidays over the winter Flexible scheduling attempts to group traveler shifts for consistency, but deviations may occur First-time travelers are considered with strong experience All scrubs must be clean; there are no restrictions on hair color, tattoos, or piercings Free parking provided, with shuttle service during winter Potential for contract extension or permanent placement Requirements Active MT or compact RN license Minimum 1 year recent Med / Surg experience with strong, broad skills Current certifications : BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Experience with epidural / PCA management, drain / ostomy care, chest tubes, wound care, general post-surgical and orthopedic recovery Ability to float to related units as needed Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-628119.
