ResearchScientist Advanced Manufacturing
We are seeking a dynamic Research Scientist to join our Materials& Industrialized Manufacturing Technologies Research Group! This personwill significantly contribute to our technology strategy and help shape ourroadmap in the field of advanced (including additive) manufacturing.
This research group provides pre-development and research servicesincluding prototyping, technology evaluation and assessments in many areasof Advanced Digital Manufacturing.
We aredemonstrating the complete tool chain needed for advanced manufacturingincluding closed-loop control, shop-floor specific robotics and HMI.
The team,embedded into the Siemens Energy Campus in Charlotte, provides tremendousopportunities because digitalization solutions using the Siemens PLM softwareapplications in combination with new technologies can be developed and quicklytested in a real productive environment.
The group also collaborates stronglywith other teams in the US and globally on topics like Materials,Manufacturing, Automation Technologies, Simulation, Digital Twin, andArtificial Intelligence.
This role is on-site in Charlotte, NC and is anoutstanding opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

Role Description
The Research Scientist will :
- Contribute to the Research Group’s strategy and roadmap in thefield of advanced manufacturing.
- Collaborate with other Siemens Technology Research Groups toextend research scope and integrate into comprehensive solutions.
- Hands-on contributor to collaborate with process experts byintegrating advanced sensors, edge-based and digital solutions for closed loopmonitoring and control of manufacturing processes.
- Develop new concepts, implement into prototypes, and present toother experts.
- Build Siemens-internal network to acquire and lead researchprojects to advance the technology and secure innovation.
- Lead and participate in projects with US government and Siemensbusinesses, including research & development as well as technicalconsulting.
- Closely interact with Principals, R&D heads, and TechnologyField heads
- Assist in developing brand recognitionexternally by networking with industry experts, attending conferences, andpartnering with universities in the US.
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree with industrial experience in MechanicalEngineering, Welding Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- 5+ years of experience with manufacturing process knowledgeapplied with edge technologies, machine and motion controls, including CAD / CAMchain, Sinumerik and Simatic edge tools.
- 5+ years of experience in the areas of advanced manufacturingworking within academia, industry, or military / government.
- 5+ years of experience in the development and application ofadvanced manufacturing, including traditional CNC and machining / repairoperations.
- Experience working in a technical leadership role.
PreferredQualifications
- Flexibility and resourcefulness to work in a growing, dynamic, andinternational team with a strong customer service orientation.
- Capable of presenting sophisticated technical topics in a clearand structured way, and ability to moderate discussions, meetings, and projects.

The pay range for this position is $81,100 - $139,200. The actualwage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidateexperience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographiclocation.
