The Key Program is currently accepting applications for a full-time Youth Outreach Worker in our Youth Development Services program located in Providence, RI .
JOB SUMMARY :
The Youth Service Coordinator works collaboratively with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), state-wide Community Action Programs (CAP), and other community partnerships to assist referred clients in their development of independent living skills and preparation for adulthood.
The position will be based out of our Providence, RI regional office and work with youth in foster care throughout Rhode Island.
What you bring
- A BA / BS in Human Services related field required;
- At least one year professional work experience with the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) involved youth and families, provider community and / or related service providers;
- REQUIRING at least one year prior experience with adolescents and familiarity with youth in state foster care system;
- All candidates must be 21 years of age or older; have a valid state drivers license; and, have a legally registered and insured car for work use.

What you will do
- Rapidly meets with referred youth, and develops a trusting, supportive relationship;
- Utilizes Positive Youth Development principles and trauma informed approaches in establishing rapport with youth;
- Promotes program practices that enhance permanency options for youth including family / kinship connections, celebrations of achievements, enhancing mentor relationships, etc.;
- Helps motivate youth for participation in vocational / career support and financial literacy;
- Helps the youth develop and maintain independent living skills;
- Provide formal life skills instruction;
- Assists youth in obtaining and maintaining employment, acting as liaison with employer when necessary
