We are seeking a highly skilled Biological Chemist with extensive experience in construct development, molecular biology techniques, and mRNA display.
This role involves over-expressing and purifying targets of interest, performing assays to validate binding interactions, and working with various cell and tissue culture models.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving our peptide therapeutic development pipeline, integrating mRNA display technology to identify and optimize peptide binders for novel therapeutic targets.
This job entails :
- Lead the development and execution of mRNA display techniques to identify high-affinity peptide binders.
- Design and develop constructs for expression of targets of interest in bacterial, mammalian, or alternative expression systems.
- Over-express and purify protein targets of interest for use in binding assays and therapeutic development.
- Perform cell and tissue culture, ensuring optimal conditions for target expression and assay readouts.
- Conduct binding and activity assays, including but not limited to ELISA, PRESTO-Tango, SPR, and BLI, to characterize peptide-target interactions.
- Collaborate closely with the peptide synthesis and enzymology teams to align molecular biology efforts with peptide design strategies.
- Document results, analyze data, and present findings to the scientific team.
In addition to the salary, we are offering a substantial bonus in the form of initial shares in the company. As an startup, this equity stake provides an opportunity to grow with the company and participate in its long-term success.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about contributing to cutting-edge peptide therapeutics and are eager to be part of an innovative environment.
Qualifications :
- Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with mRNA display technologies and their application in therapeutic discovery.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, DNA / RNA manipulation).
- Experience with protein expression and purification, preferably in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems.
- Familiarity with cell and tissue culture techniques, including sterile handling, media preparation, and transfection protocols.
- Strong background in assay development and data analysis, with experience in a range of biochemical and biophysical assays.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary research environment.
