The Director of Special Events will lead the implementation of designated events and campus development activities. The Director must demonstrate the ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with leadership volunteers, senior management, and development colleagues.
The candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, a problem solver, and possess strong writing and communication skills.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead in the development, resource management, and execution of all special event fundraising. Annual events currently include, but are not limited to Annual Golf Outing, Thanksgiving Luncheon, Bank of America Marathon, First Look for Charity.
- Provide oversight and management of all event logistics, sponsorship solicitations, attendee registration, event database management, winning bidder follow-up, as well as in the design and production of event-specific materials, such as invitations, program books, and signage.
- Assist in identifying volunteer needs and planning for each event, as well as in the staffing of event planning committees.
- Help identify potential donors (generated from event sponsorships and attendees) for Major Gifts and Annual Fund prospects.
- Grow existing event participation and donors.
- Maintain and update all needed event reports.
- Utilize Raisers Edge database to document cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities, as well as event tracking.
General Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proven track record of success and minimum of three years event experience.
- Goal-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Database experience; Raisers Edge experience a plus.
- Possess a valid driver’s license as well as the ability to travel as needed to perform job duties.
