Primary Function

As a Thermal and Mechanical Engineering Co-op, you will work alongside world-class research engineers and experienced technicians to learn how to and directly contribute to the thermal and mechanical technologies and features for A.
O. Smith’s water heating and treatment product lines. You will conduct experiments, analyze data, and troubleshoot test results to generate insights that could lead us to the next big breakthroughs in water technology.
This role is an excellent opportunity for co-operative (co-op) education students who are passionate about research and technology development and are eager to gain real world, hands-on experience under the leadership and mentorship of senior researchers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and testing of new products and processes.
- Set up and conduct laboratory and field testing of new product ideas and improvements to existing products.
- Design and model products, product components, and test fixtures (If necessary, formal training in the needed
software package(s) will be provided).
- Provide technical assistance to divisions when requested.

Qualifications
- Enrolled in BS Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university.
- A minimum of a sophomore standing and able to co -op for at least 3 terms.
- Conscientious and dependable, with the ability to work on small teams as well as independently.
- A sincere interest in mechanical engineering career.
