Job DescriptionAn oil and gas client in Midland, Texas is looking for a Power Systems Engineer to support its Midcontinent operational area (west Texas and southern New Mexico).
This person will design the electrical distribution lines and electrical systems for new wells and facilities. Additionally, this role will provide engineering support to the construction phase of new substations.
Travel to various project locations and factory acceptance testing sites will be required.Requirements
- Electrical Power Distribution systems modeling using ETAP.
- Experience creating Arc Flash studies.
- Experience with medium and high voltage systems (2400 / 4160V - 138kV).
- Industry I&E standard codes (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE Specs), design practices, and engineering standards / specifications for onshore production facilities.
- Develop and review power electrical discipline deliverables (one lines, hazardous area classifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, load schedules, plot plans and layouts, cable schedules, and grounding plans).
- Design electrical distribution lines at 15kv and 25kV.
- Experience with reclosers and S&C trip savers.
- Ability to perform electrical coordination studies.
- Ability to develop and deliver I&E engineering construction work packages.
- Review and approve vendor-submitted drawings and ensure all vendor-supplied equipment packages meet the applicable equipment, control, and electrical specifications.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
- Communicate effectively, solve day-to-day problems, and work independently.
- Interface with other groups and departments to coordinate efforts of information requested and manage tight deadlines.
- Provide pro-active communication and concise summaries to the EE Lead Engineer.
SkillsOrganization : Maintain high level of organization and apply systems to establish organization.

Communication (Written and Verbal) : Be able to communicate well and professionally with customers, vendors, managers, and team members.

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
- 5 years plus experience as an Electrical Power Engineer
- 10 years plus experience is preferred
- Stable work history
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US. Sponsorship is not available
- Must be able to pass a background check; drug and alcohol screening
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to comply with customer site requirements for access / entry
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift twenty-five pounds as required
- See, respond, and report to possible dangerous situations
- Comfortable with heights and able to climb stairs / ladders
- Operating and driving a vehicle for extended periods of time on possible rough terrain
- Sitting for extended periods. Bending, reaching, kneeling, and use of a step ladder at times
- Ability to work in inclement weather and / or extreme weather-related conditions
- Required to wear PPE / Safety gear at specific times
- Ability to wear an N-95 mask when required
