Senior Corporate Accountant

Onsite - Phoenix, Arizona)

Nikola is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our growing team at the Phoenix HQ. This position requires a motivated person who is eager to learn and grow with the organization and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in accounting-related matters.

The Senior Corporate Accountant provides fiscal and accounting support and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial information within the general ledger.

The person in this position is also responsible for handling ad hoc reporting, performing month-end activities, and maintaining account reconciliation.

Additionally, you will also assist in implementation of operating efficiencies, monitoring key account balances, and integrating new business processes and systems into the financial statement close process.

The Senior Accountant also ensures that these transactions follow US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), any other applicable professional practices, and with Nikola's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work diligently to ensure the financial statement close process is completed timely and accurately, and integrate new business processes and improvements.
• Compile all necessary information to ensure all financial statement line items are reconciled and substantiated monthly.

This includes independently researching and documenting reconciling items, and, if applicable, making any correcting journal entries.

• Perform detailed monthly and quarterly Income Statement and Balance Sheet trending analysis and provide insightful commentary to key stakeholders.
• Represent accounting team in cross-functional projects and act as a subject matter expert.
• Perform ad-hoc research projects, documenting procedures and results, and, if applicable, making any correcting journal entries.
• Take ownership over more complicated areas of the GL, such as prepaids, deposits, and certain liability accounts.
• Provide valuable insight via internal reporting to Accounting and Finance Management as well as Executives.
• Cross train and provide back-up support throughout for various accounting functions.
• Work cross functionally within the Finance department, collaborating with teams such as FP&A, Financial Reporting, AP, and AR.
• Support audit and tax requirements, including the preparation of required materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA or CPA eligible.
• A minimum 3 years of relevant experience, some public accounting experience at a staff level is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in preparing financial statements and schedules, financial trending analysis, and month-end close procedures.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to communicate accounting concepts.
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from their supervisor to accomplish objectives.
• Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• The ability to manage multiple projects to completion under tight deadlines.
• Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables and complex lookup formulas)
• Experience working with and using ERP systems and reporting tools; SAP is a strong plus.

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.

This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
