In addition, you will receive a SIGN-ON INCENTIVE OF 40 HOURS OF VACATION TIME OFF AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF YOUR 90 DAYS PROBATIONARY PERIOD, TO BE TAKEN WITHIN YOUR FIRST YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT.
ABOUT THE KINSHIP PROGRAM
Kinship Support Services are provided throughout Broward County to extended family members or friends who have taken on the care and custody of someone else's child.
The KID Kinship Team serves children from birth to 18, or up to age 22 if they have special needs. The program works with the entire family group, not just the children, to meet the needs of the family.
As a Family Support Counselor (FSC) you will make the initial family assessment, case plan, and discharge report and all documentation required on your caseload.
The FSC also makes referrals to a variety of agencies for the family for follow-up services. The FSC must also be available for emergencies if one arises for the families served by the Kinship program.
Skills / Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field from an accredited college or university with major work in psychology, counseling or social work;
and at least one (2) years' of experience working with families and children from a prevention perspective and / or populations with special needs.
- Must be computer literate in Microsoft Word.
- Must possess excellent organizational and case management skills and be familiar with services offered to families in Broward County.
Must have the ability to intervene in family and crisis situations and be an advocate in dealing with ChildNet and legal systems.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the families served in the program.
- Must have transportation and be willing to visit clients in their homes. Valid Florida Driver's License with full access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage (proof of insurance is required).
