St. Therese Catholic Academy (STCA) seeks a Business Manager beginning September 2024. STCA is a Preschool-8th grade Catholic elementary school in the heart of the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, just 2 miles east of downtown.
St. Therese is a welcoming, diverse, and faith-filled community that has been igniting the faith, minds, and dreams of our students since 1927.
The school currently serves 195 students ages 3-14, 35% of whom receive free / reduced lunch. Our families commute from over 40 zip codes to be a part of our community, and over 60% of our families receive tuition assistance.
Our staff (the Dream Team) has about 35 team members and is expanding along with our enrollment.
The Bookkeeper / Business Manager is a position that works closely with the school principal, parish administrator, and advancement director to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations of the school.
This position reports directly to the principal and works closely with all members of the school community, including parents.
Necessary skills needed for this position :
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Adherence to confidentiality and professionalism
Strong organizational skills and skilled business acumen
Proficient with technology, especially Quickbooks and Finalsite (Accounting), Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Little Green Light and FACTS (SIS)
Experience and proficiency in bookkeeping, accounting, budgeting (forecasting)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with accuracy and attention to details
Understanding and genuine appreciation of children, parents, and families
Desire to work in a racially and economically diverse and faith-based community
Preferred active Catholic and a member of a parish
Role Responsibilities and Expectations :
Monitor all expense requests and purchases ensuring adequate approvals take place
Manage all financial transactions at the school using Quickbooks and Finalsite
Generate clear and concise monthly financial reports for principal and statements for families (including journal entries and other accounting skills)
Manage all payments coming into the school and take deposits to Key Bank weekly
Manage financial accounts for school and of enrolled families through QuickBooks, Finalsite and other software and programs as needed.
Communicate with families regarding financial accounts, including pursuing delinquent accounts
Provide principal with all school reports for parish, Archdiocese and State as needed
Prepare and review annual budgets and long-term financial planning with principal and Finance Committee (serve as a member of finance committee)
Work with Advancement Director to ensure all fundraising and donations are adequately tracked and acknowledged AND to track and report all reported service hours from families
Communicate with and assist families with Fulcrum Tuition Assistance applications and STCA tuition assistance applications as needed
Model school core values for students and parents (Faith, Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance, and Compassion)
Other duties as assigned by the principal (potentially serve as an Elective supervisor with a math / business centered focus)
Proposed Schedule and Compensation Details :
Report Time : 32-40 hours / week (4-5 days, 5-8 hours / week); Benefit eligible if .75 or greater FTE agreed upon, including two medical plan options, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays.
