COUNTRY Financial is seeking an Employee Relations Manager (ER Manager) who will lead the ER team in supporting business areas by ensuring treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with the framework of our core business values and objectives.
The role is heavily proactive and reactive in nature. The ER Manager role will require strong organizational skills to serve as a working manager which also includes leading a team of ER Specialist as they support the business.
The candidate for this role should have experience with employee and labor relations, employment laws, conducting employment investigations, policy writing, excellent judgment, developed analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
The Manager will also have experience with leading projects, conducting research, create and deliver presentations to members of senior leadership in addition to the ability to communicate with frontline employees.
The ER Manager will have the ability to analyze multiple levels of employee and business partner feedback to identify risks and gaps;
to create, audit, and sustain positive workplace relations programs; and to design and conduct positive workplace relations training that drives best practices.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL.
How does an Employee Relations Manager make an impact?
- Provides consultation, coaching and support to leaders and employees in various situations, such as performance management and reductions-of-force.
- Counsels and advises leaders in interpreting and applying policies and procedures to resolve issues related to recruitment, compensation, disciplinary action and conflict resolution.
- Represents management in employee relations meetings that involve disciplinary action.
- Oversees and conducts timely investigations and audits; prepares documentation and make recommendations.
- Develops and conducts training sessions for leaders to improve employee relations and compliance, which may involve travel.
- Follows privacy regulations and maintains confidentiality as required.
- Analyzes employee relations trends, provides periodic detailed reports, and proposes methods to improve problematic trends.
- Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas. Maintains current contact information for all employees in applicable areas and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster.
- Fosters a positive environment where all team members are motivated and committed to contribute their best work.
- Creates a safe environment where team members are supported to make decisions and take action to achieve goals and objectives.
- Takes personal responsibility for making tough decisions, meeting commitments and adapting to ensure expected results are achieved.
- Assumes responsibility for implementing practices to integrate diversity, equity and inclusion while holding self and others accountable.
Do you have what we're looking for?
- Demonstrated leadership experience to lead the Employee Relations (ER) team in providing ER support, guidance and advice to management and employees in to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and local, state and federal employment regulations and requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to appropriately advise on employment law including, FMLA, ADAAA, and other federal and state labor laws within an organization that has a multi-state footprint.
- Responsible for conducting workplace investigations, drafting, updating and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and local, state and federal employment regulations and requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
- Must have well-developed organizational design, project management, workforce assessment, diagnostic, change management, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Occasional travel required.
- This is a leadership role, which typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training, including management experience.
