General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Admissions to develop, implement, lead and innovate the recruitment and enrollment activities for both full and part-time students at our Sanborn Campus and the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.
The Director will oversee a professional admissions process that aligns with the College’s policies and strategies, ensuring a positive representation of our programs and a robust recruitment and acceptance of students.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, management and organizational skills. They will also have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with effective presentation skills.
Typical Work Activities
- Develop and execute an extensive recruitment plan that addresses enrollment in specific programs, traditional age students, and non-traditional age student populations.
- Develop and execute plan to meet admissions-related goals in the full college Strategic Plan and the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan.
- Develop and manage effective recruiting practices to reach prospective students, including the use of current and emerging technology;
participate in proactive outreach activities and internal and external recruitment events to promote SUNY Niagara.
- Supervise, motivate, and evaluate the professional, para-professional and support staff assigned to the admissions functions within the Enrollment Center.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with service area guidance counselors, principals, and related educational agencies to ensure the excellent reputation of SUNY Niagara.
- Coordinate, analyze, and present data to ensure effective leadership of staff, deployment of resources and continuous improvement of programs, policies and procedures;
and to ensure compliance with College policies and procedures; work with the Institutional Research Office to prepare reports relating to student demographics, enrollment trends, innovative recruitment programs, etc.
- Ensure the accurate transmission of student data into the college’s database.
- In conjunction with Vice President of Student Services, academic affairs and institutional research personnel, assists in the development of enrollment projections.
- Ensure an accurate data collection system is developed and maintained for all stages of the admissions cycle.
- Prepare and manage the budget for the Admissions Office.
- Assist the Marketing and Public Relations Office in developing a marketing plan for the College and in the creation of promotional publications pertinent to the recruitment and admissions process.
- Perform other appropriate duties as required by the Vice President of Student Services, and the President of the College.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- Five years of professional work experience in a college admission, recruitment or student services environment including two or more years of supervisory experience.
- Understanding and appreciation of the mission of community colleges.
- Valid driver’s license for travel to all College sites, as necessary.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Education, Student Personnel Administration, or a related field.
- Professional experience in an admissions office within an institution of higher education with four or more years of supervisory experience, preferably at a community college.
