The Role You Play
As a Medical Biller and Coder Team Lead at Pawnee, you will be the direct supervisor for our team of billers, as well as responsible for some special billing projects.
You and your team will be responsible for overseeing client accounts across a wide range of insurance providers and client financial situations.
- The Day-to-DayLead a team of billers in the office, supervising, training, and evaluating their ability to carry out their responsibilitiesRetrieve explanation of benefits (EOB) from electronic file and apply outcomes to client accounts within 5 days of receipt by agencyResearch and answer client and payer source inquiries, and assist staff in answering more difficult questionsFollow up on unpaid insurance claims in a timely manner until claim is paid or only self-pay balance remains
- Other Duties as AssignedReview and approve adjustments to accountsPresent problem or delinquent accounts to supervisor as neededRemain knowledgeable regarding billing procedures and regulations for payers, acting as the source of advanced information for the department
Who You Are
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, someone who can take responsibility for their work and do it without much oversight.
They must be able to think on their feet and apply their knowledge of insurance and company policy to fast-paced situations.
Finally, they must have strong attention to detail and the patience to deal with clients and providers in a professional manner.
Required :
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year of medical office billing experience, preferably in mental health
- Basic personal computer skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
- Ability to operate and assist with maintaining office equipment such as a postage machine, copier / scanner / fax machine, and folding machine.
Preferred :
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills.
- 2+ years of medical office billing experience
