JOB SUMMARY

This position is in the Community Services Administration, Office of the Chief Clinical Officer (COO), Clinical Services Administration, Department of Behavioral Health (DBH).

DBH’s Community Response Team (CRT) is designed to provide outreach, assessment, support and service linkages to adult individuals and impacted communities in the District of Columbia 24 hours per day 7 days per week.

  • The team works closely with community members and identified partners to ensure that individuals needing behavioral health services are connected with the appropriate levels of care;
  • works with community members and stakeholders to identify and develop tailored strategies to offer behavior health services and accessibility for individuals and groups needing behavioral health interventions;
  • responds to requests for community outreach and intervention to develop and provide proactive interventions to reduce instances of crisis;

works with local police partners to develop strategies, trainings, and provide direct care support as needed; supports the residents of the District by providing crisis services evaluations and interventions as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a licensed clinician responsible for implementing and overseeing a wide range of assessments and care coordination services for DC residents experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Serves as Lead in CRT responses; provides crisis intervention and assessments.
  • Links the individual to needed community resources, including medical, psychiatric, autism, and other services.
  • Assesses when immediate safety needs of the individual require referral to a higher level of care than is available through mobile crisis services and facilitate the referral.
  • Initiates FD-12 Application Process (for emergency patients) as needed.
  • Provides brief behavioral health and / or intellectual and developmental disability interventions focused on de-escalation and linkage to appropriate level of care.
  • Deescalates crisis situations through the provision of support to the individual.
  • Responds to dispatches and arrives on-site in compliance with established guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree from an accredited school in a mental health or related field.

Skill in assessments, crisis intervention and stabilization skills and familiarity with mental health

Knowledge of trauma informed care and treatment

Candidates must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience experiences, which have equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must have a valid license in the District of Columbia (, LICSW, LMFT, LPC, RN, etc.)

Must maintain current and unrestricted clinical license in the District of Columbia and adhere to professional Code of Ethics.

WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in consumer residences, community-based facilities or specialized service centers throughout the Washington, area.

The incumbent may be required to transport self to various locations throughout Work includes standing, walking, occasional heavy lifting and may involve participation in emergency restraint of consumers.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTORS

The CRT functions as a 24 / 7 citywide crisis response team and as result assignments and locations can vary based on need.

The incumbent may be required to work rotating shifts. May require working beyond scheduled shift when necessary.

Salary : $89,958. - $115,104.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNION (Union)

This position is in the collective bargaining unit represented by SEM, and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through an automatic payroll deduction.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants unless the person declines the preference points.
