PMCS Group is seeking a qualified Architect II to join the Architecture & Planning Unit (APU) at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).

Our team is dedicated to making the journey better for billions of passengers, employees, and guests traveling through LA’s airports.

As part of a collaborative team of over 40 planners, architects, engineers, and technical professionals, you’ll help plan and design LAWA’s next wave of capital improvements, including airfield upgrades, terminal enhancements, infrastructure improvements, and more.

Position Overview :

As an Architect II, you will manage multi-disciplinary teams, guide planning and design efforts, and ensure that capital improvement projects align with LAWA's strategic objectives.

This includes overseeing the planning, design, permitting, procurement, and construction processes for a range of airport projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing planning documents, managing design alternatives, and working with aviation-related regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead a multi-disciplined team in planning, designing, permitting, and activating various airport capital improvement projects
  • Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to develop business cases for potential capital projects
  • Present preliminary design alternatives and conduct comparative analyses to address leadership and stakeholder requests
  • Review and evaluate planning and design submittals for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements, codes, and regulations
  • Manage planning and design efforts from project definition through construction administration to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget
  • Facilitate transitions from planning through design, procurement, construction, and activation
  • Oversee design efforts across multiple projects to create cohesive architectural statements and an enhanced user experience throughout LAX

Desired Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience
  • Licensed Architect (preferably licensed by the California Board of Architects)
  • Experience with Planning Documents and Preliminary Design Packages for Capital Projects (e.g., Business Case, Project Definition, Schematic Design, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Alternative Delivery Methods (e.g., Progressive Design-Build, CMAR)
  • Experience with Aviation Regulatory Agencies (e.g., CBP, FAA, DHS, TSA)
  • Experience with plan-check and permitting processes, preferably in Los Angeles
  • Familiarity with planning, design, construction, and maintenance of airport facilities (terminals, roadways, runways, infrastructure)
  • Knowledge of design software such as Autodesk and SketchUp
  • Optional certifications such as AAAE, CASp, LEED, PMP are desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI)
