Position Information Posting Number : 0601089-NC Position Type : Faculty Pools Position Title : Welding Faculty, Part-time Employment Requirement Division / Department : Welding Location Job Summary : This pool has been established to accept applications for possible openings for part-time instructors that may arise throughout the year.
Teach a variety of Welding classes including : Basic Print Reading (principles of welding fabrication drawings, visualization of parts and projects, and dimensioning and sketching)
Welding Fabrication (oxycetylene welding and cutting practices on mild steel of various thicknesses and joint configuration in all positions)
Arc Welding (Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc and Gas Tungsun Arc). Initial assignment is expected to include emphasis on fabrications projects.
Required Qualifications : Completion of a formal training program in welding, pipefitting or mechanical maintenance trade involving significant welding experience, plus an additional 5 or more years full-time journey level experience in welding, metal fabrications and layout.
Applicants with an associate’s degree in welding or related field and 2 years journey level experience will also be considered.
Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities. Preferred Qualifications : An associate’s degree in welding or related field.
Teaching experience. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions : Physical ability to operate lab equipment. Sufficient hand / arm and finger dexterity to operate equipment.
Sufficient hearing and speaking skills to communicate with staff and students. Visual acuity to read words and numbers and operate lab equipment.
Essential Duties : Teach classes.
Teach to industry standards.
Grade and assess student written and lab work.
Work as a team member of department and deliver curriculum as determined by the chair and faculty.
Maintain equipment and facilities.
Manage students in a learning environment.
Deliver appropriate related safety instruction.
