POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Licensed Pharmacist and according to law, policy, and standard procedures dispenses and delivers medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Compounds sterile and non-sterile products as required. Fills orders, picks and delivers restocks for automated dispensing machines (ADMs);
- provides basic trouble shooting of ADMs; pre-packs both hazardous and non-hazardous medications; enters charges and credits into computer;
makes rounds to deliver and return medications and IVs; and performs other technical duties as assigned.
Demonstrates leadership in the training of new employees as evidenced by the trainees’ thorough and efficient attainment of competencies.
Demonstrates advanced skills, which may include sterile compounding of Oncology chemotherapeutics, competency in patient-interview skills to obtain accurate medication histories, or completion of specialized training in other areas of expertise.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED.
Graduation from a pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Employment at Preston Memorial Hospital inpatient pharmacy for at least 1 year, and a minimum of 1,000 hours in the previous 12 months;
or upon hire meets the minimum experience including a minimum of 1 years in an advanced pharmacy technician role.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE
Pharmacy Tech-In-Training, Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern registered in the state of West Virginia, or ability to reciprocate to West Virginia.
