Purpose of Position
Conducts consistent outreach activities to increase the number of people participating in the Benefit Enrollment, Nutrition Program, Health Care Access, and Basic Food Outreach Programs.
Fluency in Asian Bilingual is essential.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Helps client or housing resident complete application for public benefits or health care access;
- Create the heathy activities and educational workshop;
- Coordinate with other organization which residents can access;
- Helps client navigate & complete applications on service provider sites;
- Makes presentations about both programs one-on-one and to groups of people;
- Develops and translates program materials in specified language, as needed;
- Publicizes program and develops relationships with community leaders, other service providers, etc.;
- Provides monthly report of programs effectiveness;
- Enters data for monthly reports accurately and timely;
- Travels to various locations throughout assigned county(s) to help client's complete applications for both programs.
- Participates in meal site operations as needed.
- Participates in staff meetings and training as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Position Requirements, Competencies and Qualifications
- Satisfactorily pass background and reference checks;
- Must have bilingual ability to speak, read and write English and specific language for job assignment (specified in job announcement);
- Must have current driver's license, reliable transportation, current auto insurance if driving;
- Proficient in MS Office, MS Excel;
- Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
- Education
- High school diploma, GED or foreign equivalent required;
- Some college preferred.
- Experience
- Experience in community outreach, advocacy and / or organizing preferred.
- Working Conditions
- Ability to work in an office environment
- Ability to travel to different locations
- Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, standing, bending, reaching, twisting, and traveling
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking, to define problems
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagrammatic or schedule form
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, up to 20 feet or more
