Description

The County of Yolo is recruiting for both full-time and part-time positions in the Deputy District Attorney class series at the Yolo County District Attorney's Office.

These positions will be assigned to the Criminal Unit as a Deputy District Attorney I / II / III / IV, depending on the selected candidate's experience.

The salary for part-time positions shall be an amount proportionate to the full-time position, prorated by the number of hours of the employee’s regular, part-time work schedule.

Regular part-time employees shall receive a pro-rated County contribution toward the cost of a health benefits plan.

Deputy District Attorney III : $121,243- $147,388 Annually

Deputy District Attorney IV : $142,376 - $173,056 Annually The District Attorney's Office participates in the .

Experience : Three (3) years of experience in the practice of law; One (1) year of experience as journey-level attorney in any county in the State of California or at least one (1) year of experience at a prosecutor's office in the United States.

License : Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Deputy District Attorney IV

Experience : Four (4) years experience in the practice of law or three (3) years experience as an attorney with the County of Yolo.

LicenseActive membership in the State Bar of California

Special Requirement : Attorneys assigned to special services legal work must have one (1) year of experience in general civil law or in the civil and criminal prosecution of consumer or environmental law.

  • Knowledge of : legal principles and their application; criminal law and procedures; constitutional law and procedures; administrative law and procedures;
  • rules of evidence; trial procedures; know duties and responsibilities and role of a prosecutor; legal research methods; appellate court proceedings;
  • civil law and procedures; consumer fraud law and procedures;
  • Ability to : analyze, apply and present legal principles, facts, evidence and arguments clearly and logically in written and oral form;
  • deal effectively and tactfully with the general public and others contacted in the course of work; be alert to, identify, analyze and be sensitive to subtleties of verbal and nonverbal communication by clients, witnesses and others;
  • prosecute individuals in adversarial proceedings including, but not limited to : preliminary hearings, violation of probation hearings, court trials, and jury trials;
  • interview clients, victims and witnesses under crowded and noisy conditions; formally address judges, hearing officers and juries;
  • quickly read, analyze and comprehend complex files and / or transcripts under crowded and noisy conditions and while in the process of participating in the prosecution or defense of individuals in judicial proceedings;
  • transport many files from one courtroom to another, from one office to another, while climbing stairs and while under tight deadlines;
  • reason logically; conduct work in dusty, dirty, confined and crowded environments; exercise sound judgment; work irregular hours;

operate a computer terminal with sufficient proficiency to perform the duties of this job.

Driver's License : Some positions in this classification may require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties.
