Ethical, Engaged, and Effective, to everything we do. The Residential Services Department of the Campus Life Division is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all consumers, staff, and visitors at WWRC.
Residential Services Department staff are responsible for providing a comfortable learning environment through targeted supports and interventions for residential consumers that maximize the opportunity to succeed at WWRC and as independent citizens.
The Campus Life Division provides relevant programs, classes, experiences, and services to enable consumers to achieve successful employment and optimal independence.
The Campus Life Division of Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) is recruiting for a Campus Life Associate.
The incumbent will engage with clients and other rehabilitation team members to create a safe, clean, supportive residential / recreational experience throughout the Campus Life Division environment, promoting positive social, interpersonal, and self-management skills.
Through ongoing residential / recreational environment engagement with Campus Life Associates, each client can explore, learn, and practice needed skills to enhance relevant personal independence and promote vocational success.
Minimum Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will have :
Knowledge / Experience :
The candidate should be familiar with the theory and techniques used in behavior modification, crisis intervention, problem-solving, confidentiality, and boundary issues.
They should also possess safety awareness in residential or dormitory settings, as well as the recreation hall environment, to provide necessary coverage as needed.
Skills / Abilities :
The candidate should have expertise in assessing individual and group needs, as well as the ability to plan and implement programs to meet those needs, as well as strong oral and written communication, computer, and organization / time management skills.
The candidate should have the ability to relate positively to people with disabilities, along with knowledge of the disabilities they face, to foster a safe, clean, and supportive environment that promotes positive social interaction, interpersonal skills, and self-management skills, as well as opportunities to learn needed skills to promote and enhance personal independence.
Additionally, the candidate should possess the ability to evaluate environmental factors and safety hazards during daily operations and promote an interdisciplinary team approach.
A valid VA Driver’s License is required.
Additional Considerations :
The candidate should have training or experience in health and human service-related fields, specifically working with persons with disabilities in therapeutic residential and recreational settings, as well as recreational training or experience, as well as certifications like CTRS, Fitness Instruction Certification, Lifeguarding, or Coaching (team or individual).
