Job Description
Are you mechanically inclined, passionate about hands-on problem-solving, and excited to take on a leadership role? Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is seeking a skilled Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team.
As the second in command of our maintenance department, you will provide vital technical and administrative support to the Director of Engineering, ensuring the seamless operation and upkeep of our facilities.
You will also take on an active role in mentoring the engineers.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Engineering in managing preventative maintenance, maintaining detailed logs, scheduling, and assigning projects and tasks.
- Oversee the procurement of supplies and issuance of purchase orders.
- Review and prioritize work orders, assigning tasks accordingly.
- Maintain up-to-date inventories of heat, light & power, and repair and maintenance supplies.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to guest requests.
- Coordinate and supervise the activities and training of the Engineering staff on a shift basis.
- Assist with scheduling, payroll administration, and time off requests for the department.
- Assume full responsibility for the Engineering Department in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
- Have a thorough understanding of Omni's safety equipment, fire alarm procedures, and emergency evacuation protocols.
- Demonstrate expertise in all trade skills and code compliance.
- Familiarize with Omni's Systems and Services procedures.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and spending controls, including capital budget production and obtaining quotes.
- Possess extensive HVAC and mechanical experience.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Serve as a people leader, helping to manage the engineering department and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Mentor and develop other engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Provide guidance and training to the Engineering staff, promoting professional growth and skill development.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence.
Qualifications
- Must have extensive HVAC and mechanical experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.
- 5+ years of hotel engineering experience preferred.
- Experience managing a crew of 5 or more.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Standing, bending, sitting for long periods of time.
