YOUR ROLE

Ackerman-Estvold is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Professional Land Surveyor to join our Boise team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting surveys to determine property boundaries, topography, and other essential site data.

This role requires a deep understanding of surveying techniques, equipment, and legal requirements. This position will work closely with engineers, architects, and clients to ensure that all survey data is accurate and delivered in a timely manner.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform detailed land surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment to collect data on property boundaries, elevations, natural and man-made features.
  • Interpret and analyze legal descriptions, deeds, maps, and other documents to establish accurate property boundaries.
  • Prepare topographic maps and other survey documents that detail land contours, elevations, and other geographic features.
  • Provide construction stakeout services to guide the construction of roads, buildings, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed survey reports, legal descriptions, plats, and other documentation required for land development and ownership.
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, and planners to integrate survey data into project designs and plans.
  • Ensure all surveys are conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on project progress.
  • Oversee and mentor junior surveyors and survey technicians, ensuring the accuracy and quality of their work.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to :

  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, and crawl
  • Use hands to handle tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Communicate clearly
  • frequently lift and move up to 25-50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License in the state of ID or ability to obtain
  • 8+ years' experience in land surveying, with a strong background in boundary and topographic surveys.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license to operate motorized vehicles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • You have strong technical skills and experience using in using surveying instruments such as GPS, total stations, and data collectors, as well as experience with CAD and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work in teams and have outstanding listening and communication skills.

Location

This position is based in our Boise, ID office; however, occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.

This is a full-time non-exempt position with competitive pay based on experience, plus a robust benefits package.
