Overview

The QA Supervisor assists the QA Manager with the day-to-day operations within the Quality Department. Responsible for the direction of all QA associates.

Ensures that all employees are in compliance with all food safety rules and GMPs. Oversees daily training and project objectives, as instructed by the QA Manager.

this position will be for the AM shift.

Responsibilities

  • Support without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Défense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1
  • Responsible for the Quality Technicians' day to day activities.
  • Supervision of QA personnel including : scheduling, controlling overtime, monitoring attendance records, and address performance issues
  • Create a culture of safety and teamwork in the department.
  • Provide continuous feedback, coaching, evaluating, monitoring and providing regular feedback on employees’ performance reviews
  • Responsible for training QA Associates on HACCP, GMP’s and other pre-requisite programs
  • Conduct regular meetings with QA Team to discuss Food Safety and Quality Issues.
  • Involved in Product Holds, place product on hold as needed and initiate communications with others as to status and disposition of hold product
  • Involved in receiving if any issue noted upon receipt
  • Oversee pest Control program; review Pest Control data for trends and follow up on corrective actions
  • Ensure product is made within product specifications
  • Ensure that employees are in compliance with all food safety rules and GMPs.
  • Lead food safety audits and follow up with Corrective Actions from the audit findings.
  • Spot check weights and metal detectors to verify proper packing and safety of products.
  • Cover any QA calls out
  • Engage with Operation; perform daily inspections of production floor, review and perform a trend analysis.
  • Oversee the process to swab of product surfaces for bacteria in order to identify unsanitary surfaces
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years previous Supervisor experience -experience as a quality assurance function within a food industry
  • Degree in science or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of BRC, GMPs, HACCP
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Working Conditions / Environment

  • Work requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing and walking in production facility.
  • Working around moving machines in production area. Protective clothing such as uniform, gloves and shoes may be required.
  • Candidate MUST be able to work a steady work schedule and report to work every day, on time, have reliable transportation
