EMD Electronics is a recognized materials supplier, with multiple products being currently used in cutting edge Augmented and Virtual Reality Devices.
In your role as AR / VR Principal Engineer, you will help us deepen our understanding on this technology, allowing us to delineate how our products can push the performance of current devices.
You will play a central role helping us to define scale up paths for products using our materials and processes. You will be based at our Silicon Valley critical initiative in San Jose to develop new materials to impact next generation AR / VR products.
Tasks : As optical engineer, you will be in charge of finding scalable ways to pattern Polarization Volume Hologram (PVH) waveguides.
You will also help us finding ways to effectively and repeatably characterize our components at the grating and combiner levels.
You will work with OEMs to scope and develop tools able to increase throughput while maintaining high yield and optical performance.
Who you are : Minimum Qualifications : Masters in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or related field5+ years industry experience working on the development of AR / VR technology related products Preferred qualifications : PhD in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or related fieldClear understanding of the AR / VR technology and how materials and architectures influence KPIs and user experience.
Clear understanding of the optical characterization methods used in AR / VR component and headset metrology.Deep understanding of simulation and modeling methods of components and headsets in order to understand the role of different materials in the performance of the overall device.
Proven record scaling up AR / VR related devices and technologies from concept to mass production.Excellent communication skills.
A strong technology leader with deep and broad experience in the field of AR / VR. Willingness to push the boundaries of current approaches and to innovate in the field of materials and applications.
Proven record of using wet coating technologies to fabricate AR / VR devices, including but not limited to slot die coater, IJP, optical lithography, etc.
Clear understanding of optical modeling formalisms applied to AR / VR device design (FDTD, RCWA, waveguide design, ray tracing, etc.
Good understanding of the related IP in the field and proven record of innovation in the field. Pay Range for this position : $73,000 - $219,000 Our ranges incorporate all levels and career types available within this specific role, and are derived from relevant industry market data.
