The Opportunity

Abt is seeking a data analytics candidate with a background in environmental science or energy systems to join its growing team in the Digital and Data Services (DDS) Division.

This division plays a key role within Abt providing data science methods, data visualization, and automation tools to a broad range of government agencies, university researchers, and foundations.

Much of this work is focused on public policy, program evaluation, and data modernization in such areas as energy, environment, healthcare, public health, housing, and human services, both within the US and internationally.

This position will primarily collaborate with Abt’s domestic environmental and energy sector clients.

The candidate will work with internal colleagues and external clients on applications of data to answer complex technical questions.

They will conduct data cleaning, analyze and visualize textual and numerical data, and may utilize various tools in Azure and AWS cloud environments to deploy analytics or modeling workflows.

In addition, the successful candidate will develop analysis plans, communicate the strengths and weaknesses of various analyses, and identify and apply appropriate analytic techniques.

The selected candidate must be experienced in developing in Python, R, or other programming languages.

Core Responsibilities

The successful hire will be able to perform the following functions and have the following mix of experience and skills :

• Familiarity with environmental or energy data analytics and programming.
• Understanding of environmental or energy data.
• Collect data from various sources, e.g., webscraping and APIs and perform data management tasks (data wrangling, cleaning, etc.)
• Familiarity with timeseries data and data sets with complex relationships.
• Write code in various programming languages, including Python or R.
• Design and implement quality assurance and management processes, including documentation of analytical requirements, version control, and code defect management.
• Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Bachelor degree + 2 years’ experience, Master degree
• Degree or experience focused on environment and / or energy strongly preferred
• Previous consulting experience preferred
• Experience publishing environmental science and / or energy manuscripts, dashboards, or products

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $72,000.00 - $110,000.00 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location.

Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
