Shift Maintenance Mechanic (Mon-Fri 12 : 00am-8 : 00am)
Who we are looking for :
We are currently looking for a 3rd Shift Maintenance Mechanic to be based out of New Bedford, MA. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Maintenace Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors systems, and production machines.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing simple or routine set-ups, operating computer console as needed, using simple measurement instruments to check work, completion of necessary paperwork, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
What you'll do :
Maintenace Mechanic's responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Ensures the safe operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines;
following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies;
placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results using Atkore's Operating Principles : Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

What you'll bring :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English
- Must have at least 1 to 2 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience with heavy machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Experience in maintenance and / or repair of motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Experience with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
- Must have basic mechanic tools on site.
- Must have technical understanding and knowledge.
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fat-paced environment.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime to keep in line with needed production.
