The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining financial records, reports and performing account reconciliations.
Additionally, the Accounting Manager will assist the Controller with budget, closing processes, conducting internal audits as needed and responding to information requests by management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Prepare journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations
- Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
- Reconcile and monitor bank balance daily for proper cash management, ensuring sufficient funds in operating
account
- Maintain and review monthly reconciliation to support accuracy of financial statements
- Review expenses for compliance with policies and procedures
- Collaborate with materials department and leadership regarding purchase requisitions, new vendor set up processes, etc.
if necessary to ensure smooth operations
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Respond to information requests timely and reviews financial statements for accuracy
- Review and maintain all required statements / supporting documents to coordinate and assist with annual audits
- Support monthly accounting close process and audits
- Analyze financial information from A / R and A / P
- Control and forecast income and expenditures
- Advise on financial-related decisions
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned
Manager Functions :
- Ensure timely reconciliations and accuracy of organization's general ledger, asset, liabilities, expense, and revenue accounts
- Oversee and assist month end and year end close process to ensure timely preparation of financial statements
- Review and approves employee timesheets
- Manage staff regarding work assignments, priorities and performance issues
- Maintain employee work schedules including training, cross-training, vacations and paid time off, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling
- Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary
- Conduct performance evaluations in collaboration with the Financial Controller
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
- Strong comprehensive knowledge of full cycle accounting and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including World, Outlook, and strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Strong prioritization and time management skills
- Demonstrate personal accountability and ability to work independently
- Strong communication (verbal / written) skills
- Critical problem-solving skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or
- Four years of experience in lieu of education
- Four (4) years of accounting experience in a healthcare setting
- Three (3) years of experience in a leadership role
