OVERVIEW
A Project Accounting Manager Accountant 5 oversees and performs all project accounting tasks associated with client contracts including contract interpretation, project setup, project-specific employee compensation matters, transactional tax rules, supplier and client relationships, joint venture accounting, collections, project closeout as well as detailed project cost and revenue analysis.
This individual is responsible for successful project execution and participates in project accounting system modifications and upgrades, systems interfaces and procedural changes associated with industrial engineering, procurement and construction work
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
May lead a team of project accountants and / or oversee the maintenance or creation of enterprise-wide project accounting systems and procedures.
EDUCATION :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business-related discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting and a minimum of 3 years industry experience.
- Extensive knowledge of core accounting operations (payables, receivables, billing, payroll, cash analysis, financial reporting).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
- Conversant with data analytics tools
- Oracle EBS experience preferred.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Oversees or prepares client invoices in compliance with client contract terms.
- Reviews payables activity for accuracy in all aspects
- Analyzes and reports on project cash flow.
- Regularly reviews and reports on project cost and revenue status.
- Reviews and applies appropriate revenue recognition rules to individual scopes of work.
- Continually reviews project UBR and UER and prepares monthly reports.
- Pursues client payments and manages internal escalation for uncollected amounts.
- Prepares weekly and monthly project receivables reports.
- Prepares joint venture invoices and financial statements
- Manages reviews, develops and tests interface effectiveness with client invoice intake systems.
- Manages client relationships.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Builds and cultivates strong cross-functional relationships to improve business processes.
- Participates in 360 reviews for self and direct reports.
- Mentors, coaches and recognizes top talent.
- Understands and supports the company’s safety and quality values.
- Other duties as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Has the ability to interpret and apply information contained in business periodicals, professional journals, client contracts, subcontracts, and governmental regulations as well as;
to compose reports, procedures, business correspondence, training material and formal presentations. Has the ability to verbally communicate well with all organizational levels.
Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, and job tasks require frequent interchange and successful completion depends in large part upon effective interaction and communication with others.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Proficient in the use of standard business / financial mathematical functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. Require close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to existing or new client facilities. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and airborne particles.
